I’m just here to vouch my support for this project since I really believe there just plain isn’t enough Mitsuteru Yokoyama stuff translated (And by enough, I mean practically any). When a man creates the mecha franchise and adapts two of China’s greatest epics into manga, you would think people would take notice. 60 volumes is a lot, but I have high hopes you’ll finish all of them.

about the merchant guy in volume 1 you spelled his name in Japanese as “Chouseihei”, I believe he is that Zhang Shiping. And his cousin “Sosou” is Su Shuang.

Though she is fictional, I can get her name for you if I know her Kanji name.
Her last name is Kou, right? I wonder that surname is related to the Kou family whom Liu Bei adopted a child named Kou Feng from (renamed Liu Feng later).
Fuyou (芙蓉), surname Kou (鴻). Hope that helps.
芙蓉 (Fuyou): Furong (means “lotus” or “hibiscus”), a common female Chinese name
鴻 (Kou): Hong (means “species of wild swan” or “vast”), a Chinese surname/forename

I don’t really keep a list but I could if you want. Do you want it to cover only the more important characters or do you also want minor characters like Ji Ling, Yan Baihu, etc.?
Hm, the important characters is fine, but it’d be interesting to see the minor characters, too, if it’s not too much trouble.

I was just starting this series and I was wondering about a possible mistake. On the title page of the first chapter it says “The Red Turban Rebellion” rather than the “Yellow Scarf Rebellion” as stated in the Table of Contents page.
Also, thank you for the translations. I have been meaning to get into the RotTK and this is a good chance to do so.

Hox, I kept on saying that I would get into Sangokushi after you have finished translating so that I could marathon it, finish it, and not get sucked into it. You convinced me otherwise and DAMN IT, I AM OBSESSED WITH IT NOW. I feel like I am reading LotGH AND IT IS AWESOME. Then I realized that I have to wait for more translations. It is so good that I feel bad and I blame you Hox.

in the game sun quan is older than sun ce, but why in comic sun ce older than sun quan?
Well, that’s a game… Historically, Sun Ce was born in 175AD, while Sun Quan was born in 182AD. I’m quite sure the original novel even mentions that Sun Quan is Sun Ce’s younger brother.

is there any comic adaption from novel suikoden?
For your first question, in both the original novel and this manga, Diao Chan never liked Lu Bu, and was only pretending to love him to distance Lu Bu from his lord, Dong Zhuo. So the reason why this manga is different from the game you played is because this manga is sticking much closer to the original novel.
For your second question, there are some manga adaptations of Suikoden, but I don’t know of any good ones that have been translated as of yet.

No, Xu Chu and Xiahou Dun are two different generals who served Cao Cao. The easiest way to tell them apart is that Xiahou Dun only has one eye.
If I’m not mistaken Suikoden is “Water Margin” or “Outlaws of the Marsh” Mitsuteru Yokoyama did an adaptation of the novel in the late 60′s right before starting his adaptation of Sangokushi.
Yes, Suikoden is the Japanese title for the famous Chinese novel, “Outlaws of the Marsh.” Yokoyama did a 8 volume adaptation (yeah, it’s pretty damn short considering how long the original novel is) of it and it is downloadable from Perfect Dark.

Dian Wei is known as “Ten I” in Japan. Benkei is an entirely different man (born much later in history) but I assume that Yokoyama was inspired by Benkei’s famous death scene as he was drawing this manga. In the original novel, Dian Wei does not die standing up.
Also, volume 16 won’t be out for a couple more weeks. I apologize, but I’m currently working at a volume/month while I work on some other manga.
xu chu is very strong, but why there is not xu chu in the game (dynasty wariors)?

In the Koei Dynasty Warriors, Xu Chu is alternatively named Xu Zhu. So they are the same people. Xu Chu (a.k.a Xu Chu) is described very big and bulky in the original novel as well, which is why he’s fat in the game.
