    You are the best! I’ll give Sangokushi another try, thanks for the recommendation.

  2. anon says:

    S-so fast!
    Thanks!!

  3. aa says:

    Thanks Hox. Would you ever consider translating Gunslinger Girl? Unfortunately, There hasn’t been a new chapter since early Fall.

  4. Hox says:

    @aa:

    Unfortunately, I haven’t read nor watched Gunslinger girl and I have other projects that I would like to prioritize so my answer is no.

  6. Anonymous says:

    Thank you so much!

  7. Hox says:

    Yes, yes, I’ll get right away on volume 7 as soon as I finish up all the monthlies. And I don’t think I really have a favourite food.

  8. Steffe says:

    Thanks a lot Hox :)

  9. Demut says:

    If delegating tasks to other people would speed up the releasing of Vinland I strongly advise you to do so. Or at least to explain why you despise working with other people so much ):

  10. Revil says:

    @demut:

    Vinland Saga is a monthly series, so there’s no possible way Hox could get it out any faster unless he got himself a time machine.

  11. Hox says:

    @Demut:

    Jesus christ, I don’t want to be rude or anything but you’re a complete idiot. How many times do I need to tell you, Vinland Saga is a MONTHLY MANGA MEANING IT IS PUBLISHED IN AFTERNOON MAGAZINE ONCE A FUCKING MONTH. I already answered your question in the other thread. God, it’s like some people lack basic google skills… Come back when you start to read manga that aren’t all published in Weekly Shonen Jump.

    But don’t take my insults too harshly or anything. We’ve all done stupid things on the internet before.

  12. Moirae says:

    Thank you for the new chapter Hox. I tend to not like really old (30-40 yrs) manga unless it’s shoujo like Glass Mask (1976), but I think I’ll have to give Sangokushi a try. Seeing as how you scanlate two of my favorite series (Vinland Saga and Historie), I trust your taste in manga.

    @Revil

    Cheers for the time machine. I only wish it was so. That way we could get back to Thorfinn and his epic a**-kicking. Not that I don’t enjoy seeing Canute finally looking like a King (and a man too, people won’t mistake him for a girl again), but poor Thorfinn hasn’t been in a battle for almost 3 yrs (Early 1014 to Late 1017). He needs a new goal in life now that Askeladd is dead.

  13. Hox says:

    Yeah, Glass Mask is a pretty damn awesome shoujo manga. Only wish it, you know… actually ended. But there’re quite a bit of awesome old manga if you can get over the style such as Ashita no Joe or Rose of Versailles. As for Sangokushi, it’s a very faithful adaptation of the actual Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel so you can expect the story to be solid. As I’ve said many times before, it’s by far my favourite project that I’m working on.

  14. Pares says:

    Many thx again Hox, this canute has grown a bit :) ( malicious smile)

  15. wwww says:

    I would chip in $100 for a time machine for Hox. Just saying. also inb4 somebody asks about GEZ

  16. Anonymous says:

    Thanks for the release!

    Tha fuck, Canute?

  17. DamnedBones says:

    Thanks as always Hox.

  18. Anonymous says:

    hummmm it’s a shame that such a good Story is given to us in such small drips……any way u can make vinterland weekly????? or just skip the king on england chapters…..i find my self not careing for the spoiled and spineless prince/king(even his “revelation” is a result of how he would so easily submit and betray his caretaker and the ideology he represented)…… :/….anyway our protaganist and the king will again cross paths, or else the story teller would not have told us about how the king is growing….

    do 2 chapers a month???????? 0,0

  19. Serious says:

    @Anonymous. i lol’d 2/10

  20. Hox says:

    Alright, I’ll go contact Afternoon to see if they’ll let me draw Vinland Saga instead of Yukimura Makoto.

  21. Zael says:

    Thanks Hox!
    Hehehe.. I think I read a little something about Thorfinn in real historical research sources.. *so glad for the über-research that mangaka’s make*

  22. mono says:

    oh i just remembered.
    i like your little logo thing you’re adding to your posts now….
    i always liked your minimalistic style of releases, just enough editing. you dont pretend to be uber hq. also no self absorbant credits with pages and pages of rants.

    back on topic:
    “vinland” is america, i wonder if thats where the story will end….
    also i’m looking forward to thorfinn coming back into the story. this manga really is one of my all time favorites, i dont mind waiting a month, because the chapters deliver every time

    whew
    take it easy mate, and thanks for all your releases

  23. Hox says:

    Yeah, I always disliked how a lot of groups had some extra page at the end of every chapter dedicated to their irc/recruiting/website or always rename their chapters to show which group scanlated it (ex. [scanlationgroup]Mangachapter.zip). I sometimes feel guilty just from the fact that I’m including my name at the end of EVERY CHAPTER because it seems like I’m advertising myself more than I should be crediting the actual mangaka. What’s even worse is those self-righteous groups who ask “Please don’t upload it on onemanga” and even go so far as to make several page-worths of ranting about it. And obviously at the bottom of the list are those groups that make you post on their forums before allowing you to download their releases. But enough about that, I’m sure some of them might have “legitimate” reasons for doing so.

  24. Demut says:

    Yo Hox, don’t worry. Even if you wanted to insult me you couldn’t do it. So never mind …

    Oh and I thought with “I’ll get right away on volume 7[...]” you meant Vinland. My bad. I didn’t know we were at ‘Volume 9′ yet.

  25. Hox says:

    That’s good to hear Demut.

    Also, seeing how this post already has 22 comments makes me sad at realizing how little attention my other projects get…

  26. mono says:

    yeah i think credit pages are fine. after all, if you didnt want people to know who did it, you could release anonymously. we all want a little bit of fame. and il admit iv done a rather flashy credit page for my project im working on atm.
    its the rant pages that i really dislike. iv found a lot of scanlators are VERY touchy and easily upset.

    but yeah, i know your tastes are eclectic, unfortunately Vinland is the biggest manga you do, maybe think of it like this: out all these people coming here for this manga, some will surely look at your other more personal projects.

    peace!

  27. Pares says:

    well this post was really funny when people don’t read the monthly release explanation and ask again :) , i like other projects you do like waters seizon life, even Takemitsu Zamurai or Nobuyuki’s mangas after a second reading thx to your advice, but historie and vinland saga were already on my top list ;)

    rant: there are groups that to be able to download a manga make you join a forum and post minimum approved comments cmon what they expect…

  28. Kathrin says:

    Thanks for this great Manga! =)

  29. sir James Adrian Ashton Lillybranch says:

    Great release, but you ave to wonder were te story will go next seeing as how Knut pretty much is king of the world, and won’t die for another 19 years (history spoilers).

  30. Demut says:

    >>>how little attention my other projects get…

    Well, how should I put this. Perhaps they’re just not what … most people like to read.

  31. Hox says:

    No, no. I perfectly understand that and what you might even imply by that. But even so, I can’t help but say that it’s quite a shame that my other projects get so little attention from people when they’re just as good, if not much better, than my more popular ones.

  32. Demut says:

    Hm, “better” is an extremely subjective term if you’re talking about something like manga. I for one am already repelled by the kind of drawing most (?) of your other projects use. I don’t even get to the point of reviewing the story, the characters and so on because the style looks too “cartoonish” / too simple imho.

    Though Ravages of Time looks nice. I might check this out if I have caught up with all the other manga I want to read.

  33. Hox says:

    Eh, whatever. I honestly couldn’t care less about your opinion if you’re the type for whom “realistic looking art” means everything. Have fun missing out on a lot of good manga due to your narrow minded opinions.

  34. Demut says:

    Steady, it’s not like I made a decision that only “realistic”, as you call it, looking art keeps my interest. And I didn’t write that so that you would care about my opinion. I just explained why I (and apparently some other people as well) might not be interested in these manga. I never said they are bad or of low quality. Their looks just don’t appeal to us.

    Besides, there are so many good manga out there that I won’t be missing anything. I already have my hands full with keeping up with my discoveries. as it is. And because every year new ones are created I might never win that race.
