And it’s time to begin Sangokushi v08. Chapter 40 puts the close on another arc of sorts in this epic historical tale. Poor Lu Bu. He may have betrayed a lot of people but I can’t help but pity him in the last page of this chapter… In any case, as the title states, there’s going to be a lot of Lu Bu and Cao Cao for the remainder of this volume so look forward to it!
On another note, I added a cast of characters at the request of an anon to help first-time readers remember who’s who. It’s not a comprehensive list, but it should cover the major characters to keep in mind. I’ll update it with each new volume from now on.
Chapter 42 is out. Gee, I wonder what this chapter is about…? Chapter 43 is now out as well.

Li Ru died? If I remember correctly, didn’t he just keep serving Lu Bu?
And Diao Chan didn’t die in the RTK, either. She was just never mentioned again. This is more fitting, though, especially considering that 99% of the rest of women in it killed themselves as well.
Li Ru died shortly after Dong Zhuo’s death. You might be confusing Li Ru with Li Su who actually plotted with Lu Bu to assassinate Dong Zhuo. He wasn’t killed by Lu Bu like how he was depicted in this manga, but Lu Bu ordered for the arrest and execution of Li Ru. It sucks that Li Ru had to go despite being so talented, I really liked him.
And as for Diao Chan’s death, I agree with you and I do applaud Yokoyama for this addition to the tale. Quite appropriate indeed. However, Yokoyama fails to show Wang Yun’s death later on so first-time readers might be left wondering what happened to him.
Li Ru, Li Su… Heh, no wonder I got the two mistaken.
But yeah, the greatest advisors and strategists, intellectuals in general, all end up having tragic endings. Always dying before they should or ending up being negleted and killing themselves. On the top of my mind, only Lu Xun and Kongming were of the few exceptions. And the Sima family, although only out of sheer necessity from Wei.
Well, this manga is really great. Can’t wait for the rest of this volume. I suppose it’ll start the whole Li Jue and Guo Si clusterfuck of idiocy.
Their idiocy is actually in the next volume. This volume mainly covers Lu Bu and Cao Cao fighting each other.

Reading this manga made me realize how fucking slow Ravages of Time is and i heard this manga have 60 volumes.O lord.
Yeah, I know. I don’t necessarily mind long manga but Ravages of Time definitely has some pacing issues.
Sangokushi may be long but there’s always something significant happening with each chapter and it wastes very little pages (I think).
